Rob Ryan’s Christmas window
Posted by Angie Lewin

Something I'd meant to write about before Christmas is this brilliant window display that Rob Ryan has created for Coutts Bank at 440 Strand - opposite Charing Cross station.

The window has been created to raise fund for Kids Company. There will be an auction of the stuffed elephant, doll's house and rocking horse that form part of the display. But you can also make a £5 donation to Kids Company by texting KIDS HELP to 70700.

Grayson Perry
Posted by Simon Lewin

I took a trip to the British Museum last week for Grayson Perry's The Tomb of Unknown Craftsmen exhibition.

The show features various new works by Perry alongside objects made by unknown men and women throughout history from the British Museum’s collection.

The exhibition runs until 19th February 2012. Booking recommended.

Here are a few snaps from outside the exhibition itself.

St. Jude’s packing tape
Posted by Simon Lewin

We've had a lot of requests about the packing tape that we use here at St. Jude's and have added some sets of rolls to our online store.

There are 3 designs in the sets - one each from Mark Hearld, Angie Lewin and Emily Sutton.

But we also have 20 sets to give away in a prize draw.

In about a week we'll draw 5 people at random from the following...

- Fans of our Facebook page

- Followers on Twitter

- Subscribers to our St. Jude's Fabric newsletter

- Subscribers to our St. Jude's Prints newsletter

Mark Hearld – An Introduction
Posted by Simon Lewin

Here's a film I've made about Mark Hearld's work, based on an interview with him that we recorded up in Scotland earlier in the year. You can view at full size over at YouTube.

Alex Malcolmson
Posted by Simon Lewin

You may have already seen the hanging sign that Alex Malcolmson created for his exhibition with us earlier this year.

Coast magazine have just featured Alex and his work in their November issue.

Alex has created two pieces based on his time in spent sailing round the Scilly Isles to accompany an article by Ceri Levy which will be appearing in our forthcoming Random Spectacular publication.

And in 2013 we'll be hosting an exhibition of Alex's work alongside printmaker & painters Jonathan Gibbs and Jonny Hannah. Sign up to our newsletter for details nearer the time.

British Design Awards 2011
Posted by Simon Lewin

We took a call yesterday with the brilliant news that Emily Sutton's Curiosity Shop has won the 'Best British Pattern Design' category in The British Design Awards 2011 - in association with Elle Decoration and The Daily Telegraph.

We look forward to finding out who won in the other categories in the December issue of Elle Decoration (we'd initially though we might have to keep our news secret but have been told to spread the word!).

We'd like to thank everyone that took the time to vote - it is genuinely appreciated.

We'll have news soon of Emily's follow up fabric, a new design entitled 'Deep Sea' (sign up to our newsletter for details).

In the meantime, 'Curiosity Shop' is available both by the metre and as ready made cushion covers.

Faber & Faber
Posted by Angie Lewin

I was delighted to be asked to contribute to the latest 'Romantics' poetry series from Faber & Faber, illustrating the cover and endpapers for the Percy Bysshe Shelley edition.

Designer Miriam Rosenbloon commissioned covers from printmakers Andy Lovell (Samuel Taylor Coleridge), Ralph Kiggell (John Clare), Emily Sutton (John Keats), Colin Moore (William Wordsworth), Jane Hyslop (Robert Burns), Mark Cazalet (William Blake) and Harry Brockway (Lord Byron) .

There's a great interview with Miriam over at It's Nice That.

You can also order a copy of the book online at Amazon.
