Nightlines
Posted by Simon Lewin

The wood engraving below by Jonathan Gibbs formed part of the cover for angling author Charles Rangeley-Wilson's excellent 'Somewhere Else' (published by Yellow Jersey Press).

Charles will be taking part in 'Nightlines - An Evening of Angling Readings and Discussion' at Holkham Hall in Norfolk on Friday 8th October 2010, appearing alongside Luke Jennings, John Andrews and David Profumo.

After the readings there will be a chance to buy a pint of East Anglian ale, to talk with the writers and to buy signed books; an ‘Andrews of Arcadia’ cabinet of fishing curios; a raffle with prizes including sets-of-four signed books by each of the authors and a rod-and-reel outfit kindly donated by Orvis.

For full details you can download this PDF file or e-mail Julian Hanson-Smith.

Paul Catherall
Posted by Simon Lewin

To celebrate their forthcoming R100 & R101: Airships at Cardington exhibition the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery & Bedford Museum have commissioned an exclusive artwork from renowned linocut printmaker and illustrator, Paul Catherall.

Paul Catherall has previously been commissioned by such high-profile names as Transport for London, British Airways and the Southbank Centre.

His strong, clear lines and bold colours have depicted such iconic buildings as the Eiffel Tower, St. Paul’s Cathedral, 30 St. Mary’s Axe (otherwise known as the ‘Gherkin’) by Foster + Partners, and Battersea Power Station. Now the sheds at Cardington join that illustrious list.

The exhibition in Bedford runs from 2nd October until 19th December 2010. Full details from the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery & Bedford Museum website.

And our online print store features a selection of Paul Catherall prints.

Louise Allardyce
Posted by Simon Lewin

North East Open Studios (NEOS) is Scotland's largest open studios event, organised by an award winning collective of artists, makers and galleries in the North East of Scotland.

This year Louise Allardyce will be exhibiting a selection of work in the coffee shop and gallery at Hennie's Corner, Bank House, Fyvie. Louise’s painting is highly intuitive, borne out of many hours in-situ, capturing the movement, light and freshness of outdoors. The exhibition includes new work inspired by the Buchan landcape; a document of ancient land features remaining untouched amid intensive agriculture.

Louise will also be sharing the gallery space with sculptor Susan McInnes and illustrator Jonathan Williams.

From September 11th-19th, 10am until 5pm at Hennies Corner, Bank House‚ Lewes, Fyvie‚ Aberdeenshire AB53 8PB. For further information about NEOS visit www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk
